From Basic to Professional

An information security training program for students in grades 7 through 11 should be based on a comprehensive approach that includes both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.

As part of this approach, the initial phase of training should be forming basic concepts and knowledge about information security, such as:

  • physical;
  • hardware;
  • software and organizational means of information security.

The next stage should be an introduction to specific risks on the Internet and dangers to children on the Internet. This will allow students to understand the possible consequences of careless attitude towards personal information and will expand their information culture in general.

In order to successfully shape the educational environment in the field of information security, it is necessary to train teaching staff who can teach children in this area.

At the same time, the basic information security courses should be deepened through laboratory work (e.g., on determining information leakage channels) and individual projects. In addition, we should not forget the role of parents in shaping children's information culture and safety on the Internet, and the need to use best practices in teaching information security, such as the CTF-oriented paradigm.
